August is a fantastic time for trails in the region! We have the summit of Fishers Peak reopen for hikers, great weather, and a slate of fun and family-friendly events coming up. Get out there and enjoy!

Next week is our celebration for 10 Years of the Wormhole Trails!

Please join us August 9th anytime between 9am and 2pm at the Wormhole trailhead for free food, activities for all ages, music, and of course hiking/biking.

Fishers Peak State Park Call for Volunteers

Fishers Peak State Park is looking for some more volunteers, with opportunities for

• Trail Maintenance

• Trail Stewards (aka guides / trail "hosts")

• Trackchair Ambassadors to take folks out in the trackchair

• the Friends of the Parks nonprofit

• a new teenage youth group

July Trail Work Wrap Up
Sprucin' up the Wormhole

At our last trail work day, 15 fun loving volunteers came out to the Wormhole. We focused on polishing up the Rockfall Road, which is the main climbing trail to the mesa top: raking, digging drains, and hauling off felled timbers. A few folks went up top lopping and brushing the upper loops. All followed by a cold beverage in the shade!

Trinidad State College Scholarship Applications NOW OPEN!
Learn Mechanized Trail Building

TTA will be matching funds from a Bar NI grant award to provide scholarships to three individuals for this September's mechanized trail building class at TSC.

If you or someone you know would like to apply, please fill out this brief Google Form!

This scholarship is only open to residents of Las Animas and Huerfano counties.

August Trail Work Party:
Saturday 8/9 at the Wormhole

We are so excited to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the Wormhole Loops, our homegrown trail system located on City of Trinidad land. If you've never been, now is the perfect time to come check it out. If you go there every week, come party with us and ring in the next decade of trail love in Trinidad!

We'll have a bunch of fun stuff going on, including:

- 9AM - 11AM: Pancake breakfast
- 10AM: Kids mountain bike ride and guided hike for all
- 11AM: Maypole dance and watermelon giveaway
- 12PM - 2PM: Peanut butter & jelly sandwich bar and Sara's burritos
- ALL DAY: music jam, arts and crafts, cornhole, biking and hiking.

Meet at the trailhead any time during the event (or hang out all day!) Leashed dogs, children, and adults of all ages are welcome. Bring a friend!
