Donate Today for Cool Swag & to Support Trails in Trinidad!
Since 2022, Trinidad Trails Alliance has provided over 1,500 volunteer hours maintaining local trails, creating new opportunities for outdoor recreation, and supporting major events in Trinidad and Las Animas County.
We use our funding for mission critical efforts such as:
Purchasing and maintaining trail building and maintenance equipment, including a trailer
Funding programs such as the TSC Mechanized Trail Building scholarship
Providing limited stipends to staff and admin
Acquiring trail signage and wayfinding items
As we grow, our funding needs scale alongside us. In the coming years, major expenses could include:
Contracting trail construction at the Wormhole or other city-owned parcels
Salaries for TTA Director and/or other staff
Additional needs for accounting and administration support
Contracting design and planning for new trails, bike park, and/or pump track
New youth programming opportunities

September Trail Magic
Thanks to volunteers and TSC students for work at Fishers Peak, The Rad Dirt Fest, and the Wormhole!
September was simply jam packed with trail and outdoor activities.
At the beginning of the month, students with Trinidad State College's Mechanized Trail Building Class -- many of whom attended under scholarships from TTA, La Veta Trails, and Bar NI Community Fund -- worked under instructor Tony Boone to hone their skills improving drainage and constructing a brand-new bicycle pump track at the Wormhole! If you haven't been yet, head over there and check it out!
We then had 14 amazing volunteers come out to Fishers Peak State Park to perform much needed trail maintenance after heavy summer rains. We got some critical work done on the Goldenrod, Lower Lone Cub, Poison Canyon, and entrance trails.
Finally, TTA organized 400+ volunteer hours supporting the Rad Dirt Fest gravel bike race on the last weekend in September. Thanks to the many folks who showed up to help stuff swag bags, register racers, staff aid stations and marshal a safe course.
Cheers to Hoehne High School, Tarantula Cycles, Emergent Campus, Trinidad Office of Outdoor Rec., Trinidad State women's softball and men's soccer teams, Bill Louthan, and all the individual friends and citizens for making it all work. Win-win-win. 🏆

Closing Soon: Spanish Peaks Outdoor Coalition Public Survey
The Spanish Peaks Outdoor Coalition (SPOC) is part of the Colorado Outdoor Regional Partnerships program, supported by CPW and GOCO, which will distribute millions of dollars in grant funding to regional groups supporting conservation and outdoor recreation across the state. TTA is a proud member of the coalition.
SPOC is seeking public input on what is important to YOU when it comes to the great outdoors and public land development and conservation.
Take 5-10 minutes to share your insights on:
Trails and outdoor recreation
Land conservation and habitat protection
Tourism, access, and local values
Cultural and community connections to land
Your feedback will directly inform SPOC’s planning and decision-making and further TTA's mission of supporting sustainable outdoor recreation and stewardship of local outdoor spaces.
SPOC Grant News
TTA is an active participant in the Coalition, providing our input and priorities as a Las Animas County based proponent of outdoor recreation and trails.
We are assisting SPOC in pursuing the first of many grant opportunities that will be awarded to these regional coalitions, which exist around the state.
We are targeting a wayfinding and trails guide project that would include new signage for the Highway of Legends and both a physical and digital guide to outdoor recreation sites in the region.
More to come as this grant proceeds through review, but we are excited to have made the first cut among grant applicants!
SPOC also has a brand new Facebook page to help share news about the Coalition's efforts. Give them a follow to stay updated!
